Like a weight has been lifted

Leo and I had the pleasure of having Pastor Randy and Lisa at our house last night for dinner. We invited them over because we wanted their insight about a few things and the dinner turned out fabulous! (Thanks Leo for helping me make the Pork Roast).

As I just mentioned, the meal consisted of a Pork Loin Roast which was quickly browned in a skillet and then transfered to the crockpot to finish. Then I oven roasted some potatoes and carrots with an Onion Soup mix. MMMM! I had a simple salad on the side which rounded out the meal quite nicely. I will definitely be making that meal again!

Anyway, part of the reason for their visit was because up until very recently, I have struggled with living here and being so far away from my mom. She lives outside of Savannah, GA and I grew up in that area. My mom has always been my best friend in addition to being my mother. I moved here with the plan that as soon as Leo graduated from school, I was moving back to Georgia, where I felt I belonged. I have clung to that thought for the several years we have lived here. Well, Leo will be graduating soon and I have suddenly felt alot of anxiety about the decision to move. I have a good job and a nice house and moving would mean those things would be in limbo for an indeterminate amount of time. I finally feel surrounded by friends who care for me and make me feel wanted after so long of being soooo lonely. I have renewed my faith because of the church that we go to and I don't know if my faith is strong enough to handle finding a new church somewhere else. Leo and I want to have 2 kids and I want the doctor I had with my first to deliver my second...and I'm no where near pregnant again! Talking to Randy and Lisa last night helped me realize that with as much anxiety as I am having about this decision, the best thing for me to do is stay put until I know for sure that moving would be a good idea for my family. At the same time I feel so bad for my mom because she is going through a rough time in her life right now and I want to be able to help her and part of me (because I think so highly of myself ;}) thinks that if we move to Georgia, it will fix all of my mom's problems. I just hope she understands the reasons behind our family's decision and can respect it.

So, basically what I am telling you guys is that you are stuck with me indefinitely! Aren't you all so excited?!! I knew you would be! ;} I love you guys and I will see you all tomorrow night, I hope!

Mari, we love you, and we're so glad that you guys will be staying for at least a little longer! :) My dad always used to say, "When you start feeling anxious and you don't know what to do next, go back to the last time you clearly heard God give you a direction. Continue with that, and wait to hear from Him again." It has served me well. I'll be praying that God continues to give you peace and assurance in your decisions. I'll also be praying for your Mom, that she finds a really great support network in Georgia. There's nothing like family, but a wonderful church family sure is pretty darn close!

On a completely different note, I think Ruby kind of looks like Holly with her new bangs. :) It's the first thing I thought of when I saw Roo's new 'do. :) We'll see you guys tomorrow night! Love you!

One of my students once gave me a little picture frame with a saying, "Sometimes on the way to a dream, we get lost and find a better one."

In my own life, there have been times when I've been certain that I wanted something specific. As I have been reaching and working towards that, God has changed my mind, direction, etc. until I found myself really excited about my new direction.

Anyway, it's great to know that you are feeling at home now. We are sooooo glad to get to know you and you know we'll all support whatever thing God tells your family to do.

I also love that you had our pastor and his wife over to dinner. I'm sure they were blessed by such a yummy meal (yum yum) and good company. We've never done that and probably should some time. You've inspired me.

You know I love ya and am glad to hear you'll be staying around for a while longer. We would support WHATEVER your family feels lead to do. No matter if you stay or move. You'll be a friend for life. I have to say I had wondered what was up with your moving plan. I didn't know if I was ready to hear your answer so I hadn't asked.

I'm also praying for your MOM.

Hi Mari, I'm so SOOO glad you shared tonight-I feel closer to you already! I'm gald you're gonna stick around and you're right-we are never really alone though sometimes we feel sooo painfully alone. I think Amy F would agree with some of your feelings as she didn't really consider Lafayette home until recently either;-) My mom lives far away too and sometimes I think alot of her hard times would be easier if I were there but I know God has this place for me now and I LOVE Lafayette and consider it a priviledge to be a small part of the HTH family! Hugs, Renay

Yes, we are excited! Thank you for sharing about all of this in your blog and sharing tonight. God is doing a lot in you. Don't know what the future holds or where life will take you....but staying put for now until you're led for sure elsewhere or continue in Lafayette is a smart decision.

Renay is exactly right. I felt blah about the area and being away from family and friends for the first several months we were living here. But, God placed certain people in my life, Jessica and Kristy specifically, who got me connected and plugged into somewhere great. He knows what He's doing! I truly felt I could call this home (and that I don't want to leave!) after I had Lydia. I couldn't have asked to be surrounded by better people during that time and it just really proved to me that this is where we're supposed to be. He orchestrated our move to this stinky town (literally, Tate & Lyle) and all that developed afterwards and I am so blessed! Okay, sorry...somehow I've made this about me.

We're glad you're staying put for now...can't wait to continue to get to know you better. Thanks for visiting my site :-)

I am so proud of you! I must admit, I have never had the Skidmores over either. But we do live 35 minutes East of Lafayette. We could however ask to meet them at a restaurant! I am so glad to know you and have enjoyed watching you grow! LOVE YA GIRL! Tina
